On Tuesday a 9 year-old boy was hit by a car in North Amarillo.

A 33 year-old woman driving the vehicle was heading southbound on N. Marrs St., she didn't see the boy walk in the street, she only heard the boy make contact with the vehicle.

Police were called to investigate the scene around 8:00am, the boy was not walking in the designated crosswalk area. The boy was then carried to nearby Whittier Elementary School where he stayed until an ambulance transported him to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the vehicle was given tickets for driving without a license and without insurance. The boy was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
