UPDATE: Dr. Jeffrey Cone was arrested Thursday evening on two sex offense charges. He turned himself in and was jailed for 36 minutes and then released according to records.

Original Story, Dec 5: Dr. Jeffrey D. Cone has been accused of molesting and sexually abusing a minor according to the lawsuit.

Dr. Cone the Amarillo based neurosurgeon had been treating the 15-year-old since he was 9-months-old.

According to the Plaintiff's Narrative in the lawsuit, the minor had been treated by Dr. Cone since he was 9-months-old after the minor suffered a brain bleed. The family had come to care for and trust Dr. Cone.

Dr. Cone utilized his position as a medical doctor to manipulate Plaintiff Doe into allowing Dr. Cone to sexually molest and assault him.

When the Minor expressed interest in the medical field. Dr. Cone offered a job at his clinic, where he shadowed Dr. Cone around the office and in surgery.

Dr. Cone would purchase the minor expensive gifts and ask for the minor to stay late at the clinic to "read MRIs," which according to the lawsuit, " Dr. Cone utilized his position as a medical doctor to manipulate Plaintiff Doe into allowing Dr. Cone to sexually molest and assault him. Dr. Cone exploited Plaintiff Doe’s trust as his medical doctor and convinced Plaintiff Doe that his sexual molestation was medical treatment to help him with his back pain."

Attorney Kevin Glasheen and the personal injury law firm of Glasheen, Valles & Inderman, LLP filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Potter County.

In a press release from Kevin Glasheen, "“We are going to take everything this man has and do everything the law allows to make him pay for this horrible crime.” Glasheen says he would like anyone who has information about sexual abuse by Dr. Cone to contact the law firm."
Plaintiffs seek damages in the amount of over $1,000,000.00 for:

Physical pain sustained in the past, Severe psychological pain and mental anguish, Severe psychological pain and mental anguish that, in reasonable probability, will be sustained in the future,Emotional distress sustained in the past, Emotional distress that, in reasonable probability, will be sustained in the future, Medical expenses sustained in the past, Medical expenses that, in reasonable probability, will be sustained in the future.
