We have all  heard the slogan, 'Click it or Ticket.'  Well, the Amarillo Police Department is cracking down on seat belt violators throughout the month of May.

If you have a bad habit of not wearing your seatbelt, you might want to rethink it.  Not only will it save your life, but it could save you some money.  Starting May 18th through May 31st, the APD is participating in the 'Click it Or Ticket' campaign.

The department was given a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation that will help pay extra officers to patrol and concentrate on seatbelt and child restraint violations during this time.  So yes, that means more police officers will be out on the streets.

Texas law requires that every person in a car must wear a seatbelt.  And children 8 and under must ride in a child safety seat or booster seat unless they are taller than 4'9".

Be safe and save your life, buckle up!
