Early this morning APD officers were dispatched to the area of 34th and Western on a burglary alarm.

A male was walking away from the area. Officers found he had a parole warrant for his arrest. The suspect then ran from officers, a Taser was deployed to stop the suspect but it was unsuccessful.

The suspect pulled a gun and fired at officers hitting an officer in the foot. APD returned fire which hit the suspect. The Officer and suspect were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

APD Special Crimes and the Texas Rangers are investigating.
