Tis the season!  Wait!  No!  It's not!  Why does it seem like robberies seem to increase around the holidays?  It's like, Happy Thanksgiving, now let's rob a store!  I don't like it!  But either way, it's going to happen, just like it did Sunday, November 25th, 2012, at 7:40am!  The Family Dollar at 4400 S. Washington in Amarillo was a victim of armed robbery.

Amarillo Police Department reports that there were no injuries in the robbery, and no arrests have been made either.

APD:

On Sunday, November 25, at 7:40 AM, officers were dispatched to the Family Dollar store at 4400 S. Washington on an armed robbery. A store employee was leaving the store to make a bank deposit when he was approached by the suspect, outside the front of the business. The suspect was armed with a handgun and demanded the money. The victim gave the suspect the deposit bag. The suspect was last seen running south from the store. The suspect is described as a white male wearing all black and wearing a black ski mask. An undetermined amount of money was taken in the robbery. There were no injuries in this incident and there have been no arrests.

If you have any information on the robbery, you can contact Amarillo Crime Stoppers at 806-374-4400 and give them the information, while remaining completely anonymous.

Remember, the crime rate increases around the holiday season, so make sure all your windows in your house are locked, lock the door when you leave, even if you're just stepping out for a few minutes, keep it locked!  And I find that having a dog is a big help!  Dogs are like alarms, except they have teeth and can scare the hell out of any potential robber!  I find the bigger the dog, the more of a deterrent it is.  But the smaller the dog, the louder the bark.  That's why I have both!
