The new DASH Diet (Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension) has been ranked the #1 diet in the US. The diet helps lower hypertension levels and cholesterol.

It focuses on whole grain fruits, vegetables and lean proteins. Among test subjects followed over a 24 year period, the DASH diet was shown to significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke in the middle aged.

Weight Watchers also ranked high for best weight loss diet and commercially the most easy to follow. In a study in which some adults were assigned to a doctors care, and others were assigned to Weight Watchers, the subjects using the Weight Watchers program lost more weight.
