A major problems for employers is having their employees steal from the workplace.  According to a recent survey, most people steal or have stolen something from their job-mostly office supplies.

Maybe you forgot to put the pen back on the desk or you accidentally take home some post it notes-that my friend is stealing.  According to Banner Business Services, two thirds of us have stolen something from our place of employment.

It may seem like a stupid pen or a few paper clips, but these little items add up.  So much so that it costs companies $3.2 billion a year.  Yes, they lose that much money from stolen office supplies.

I was floored when I saw this, so I decided to find the most stolen items.  According to a survey conducted by Banner Business Services, here are the most stolen items.

  • Post It Notes
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Toilet Paper
  • Copier Paper
  • USB Memory Sticks
  • Notepads
  • Pens
  • Staplers
  • Highlighters

Out of these things, I figured pens would be number one and I never expected to see toilet paper on the list.  Another thing that I thought would make the list was envelopes.

So have you ever stolen anything from work?  If so, what did you take?
