Expect Traffic Delays In Downtown Amarillo As Renovations Begin

If you use Pierce street to get to and from your job, you might prepare another route.  Beginning as early as February, the street will be reduced to just two lanes.

We have all heard about the renovations happening downtown.  We are expected to get a hotel, parking garages, an outdoor stadium and a few other projects.  But what we don't know is that in order to create all of these things, we have to disrupt our usual routines.

These buildings require utilities like water, electricity and other various services.  In order for that to happen, a huge stretch of Pierce street has to be excavated to move utilities for the redevelopment projects.

This means that the busy street will be reduced to two lanes.  No word yet on how long it will take, but beginning in February, that is a street that I wouldn't use.
