Glen Campbell's friends and family celebrated his life with a private memorial service on Thursday (Aug. 24). The event took place at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum's CMA Theater, in Nashville, and was attended by Brad Paisley, Charles Esten and more.

Parade reports that, during the service, the CMA Theater's stage held Campbell's stage-worn suits, his guitars and some of his paintings. Actress Jane Seymour; Campbell's managers, Stan Schneider and TK Kimbrell; producer Julian Raymond; and the Campbell family's pastor and rabbi all spoke during the event. Steven Curtis Chapman, Paisley, Raymond, Jimmy Webb and Steve Wariner, Mac McAnally and Carl Jackson all performed as well.

Kim Campbell, Glen Campbell's widow, closed out the memorial service with a eulogy. At the start of her speech, Kim Campbell called her late husband "the father of my three children, my best friend and the love of my life."

"I'd like to be able to share the 'real Glen' with you -- the one you've never seen or heard before -- and tell you secrets about his personality and his quirks, but I can't. There were no secrets with Glen," Campbell said in her eulogy. "He was the real deal all the time."

Campbell died on Aug. 8, after living with Alzheimer's disease for a number of years; he was buried in Arkansas on Aug. 9. In June of 2011, Campbell announced that he had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, after experiencing short-term memory loss for several years; the disease continued to rob him of his memories until his death.

During his lifetime, Campbell was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame and won a number of major awards, including numerous Grammy Awards and Grammy Hall of Fame honors, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, two CMA Awards (including Entertainer of the Year), a number of ACM Awards and many more. His final album, Adios, was released in June.
