Being a home schooled student has both advantages and disadvantages.  The Texas Senate has now passed a law that will allow them to participate in school athletics and extracurricular activities. 

Growing up one of my favorite things to do was participate in University Interscholastic League orUIL competitions.  Yes, I know I'm a nerd.  LOL.  But imagine being a home schooled student?  You don't get to participate in UIL events or even school sports.

Well, the Texas Senate has voted to allow home schooled students to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities.  These activities are usually open to public school students only, but supporters are turning to Tim Tebow as an example.

The football player was home schooled in but played high school football in Florida.  He then went on to win a Heisman Trophy at the University of Florida.

There is an estimated 300,000 home schooled students throughout the state of Texas.
