How Are People Wrongly Imprisoned?

With today's technology we have more ways of determining innocence and guilt. Over the past couple years more and more prisoners have been released due to DNA evidence.

It's hard to believe that some of the people in today's prisons are actually innocent, but that may be the case.  On Monday, a Colorado man was exonerated for the rape and murder of woman.  Yes, after spending 16 years in prison new DNA evidence found that he was actually innocent.

Also on Monday two men in Dallas were found innocent after being convicted of rape and a shooting.  They were also exonerated due to post conviction DNA testing.

So what is the problem?  Why are more and more people being found innocent?  These incidents make me question our entire judicial system.

People being wrongly imprisoned and having years, sometimes decades torn away from their lives seems so cruel.  Nobody deserves this.  And the great state of Texas leads the pack on wrongly imprisoned people.

I'm not sure what anyone can do to correct this.  You cannot give these men years back to their lives.  So what do they get?  In some states, the government tries to help these men get back on their feet but 27 of the 50 states give no compensation.  Texas does compensate.

In my opinion, all states should the wrongly convicted something.  They lost time with their family and friends.  They could have been a great contributor to society before locked up.
