Ichiro Suzuki, 38, a former Seattle Mariners superstar was traded on Monday to the New York Yankees for two right-handed pitchers.

D.J. Mitchell and Danny Farquhar were the two pitching prospects in the trade. In a crazy turn of events Suzuki was traded just 3-hours before the Yankees and Mariners played at Safeco Field in Seattle.

Instead of getting the cold shoulder from Mariners fans Suzuki was dealt with a 45-second standing ovation. Over the All-Star break Suzuki thought about it and requested to be traded saying he does want to be in Seattle for the 2013 season.

A 38 year-old on a team that is rebuilding with the majority of its players in their 20's was not comfortable with him. He felt it was in his best interest to be traded somewhere else where we would fit in, So he went to the #1 team in MLB baseball holding the best record.

In his first game as a Yankee on Monday Suzuki went 1 for 4 with a single and a stolen base, he also got the final out of the game with his new team the Yankees beating out his former team Mariners 4-1.
