Is September To Early To Start Christmas Shopping?

We still have two holidays to pass before we get to Christmas, but once the months ending in 'R' come, it will be here fast.  So when is the perfect time to start your Christmas shopping?

Since July, Hobby Lobby and Walmart have had Christmas decorations up.  Everything from lights to ornaments to trees.  But we still have two other holidays to get through.

To me, it seems that we are starting earlier and earlier each year.  I do understand, though.  I come from a big family and in order to give everyone a gift, I have to start early.  But how early is too early?  Is it ok to shop in September?

I always say I'm going to start early but never do.  When do you start your Christmas shopping?
