Keith Urban's daughters have inherited their famous father's musical ability, and now it looks like one of them could follow in his reality TV footsteps.

Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman, were on hand for the American Idol finale Wednesday night (May 13), and speaking to reporters on the red carpet before the event, Kidman revealed the couple's daughter, Sunday Rose, has expressed her desire to compete on The Voice Kids in Australia. Urban tells Extra he'd be fine with either of his girls trying out, but Kidman is less enthusiastic.

“I'd be devastated if they didn't get through," she admits, while Urban takes a more philosophical approach. “You've got to expose them to the real things in life," he says.

Kidman and Sunday Rose have already discussed the possibility of rejection. "I'm just like, 'But baby, what if the chair didn't turn around?'" she says. "And she's like, 'I'd be fine.' But she wouldn't," the worried mother frets. "You want to protect them, but have them follow their dreams."

Urban himself is an old hand at reality singing competitions. Before his current stint on Idol, he served as a coach on the Australian version of The Voice, and long before that, he competed on several different shows in his own formative years.

“When I was nine years old I went on a show called Pot of Gold. Then there was another show called Have a Go Show. There was another show called Stairway to the Stars," he recalls. "For whatever reason my parents thought these shows were a good place for me to go to maybe not only hopefully get a leg up career-wise, but also get some advice and feedback, which I certainly did. Some of it’s pretty scathing. So I know what it’s like to be humiliated in front of everybody on TV.”
