You might think that after winning 'American Idol' in 2002, Kelly Clarkson would have throngs of guys lined up on her doorstep. Instead, the singer describes her past Christmases as mistletoe-free, adding that she was "pathetically alone" before meeting hubby Brandon Blackstock.

"I was single for almost seven years," Clarkson says, opening up to Parade. "Every Christmas, it was like, ‘Seriously, I’m still pathetically alone? Awesome. I’m still telling people I’m okay with it? I’m not.'"

"I only had like three boyfriends my whole life before Brandon, and two of them were good, just not a good fit," the star adds. "I only had one real stinker [who] I wrote [music about] and made a lot of money off of."

Although her time spent single sounds rather difficult, when Clarkson met Blackstock, she just knew he was the one she wanted to be with -- after all, seven years gives you a lot of time to think about qualities you want and don't! "[When I started dating Brandon], in my head, I was like, 'I'm already married to you!'" she admits. "My life did a 180 -- in the most awesome way."

Truly, Clarkson's life looks drastically different from even a few months ago. The 'Tie It Up' singer got hitched to Blackstock and recently announced a baby on the way (and she's sure it's a girl). This Christmas, she won't be alone at all; she has her little family (with one on the way) to celebrate with.

You can be sure Clarkson will be hunting down the mistletoe this year!
