Kelly Willis is premiering her first new song in almost a decade, "Flower on the Vine," exclusively on The Boot.

"Flower on the Vine" is a melancholy, low-key tune that showcases Willis' vocals: "I've been playing it straight / I've been trying to wait it out / Leave it all up to you," she sings. "You've been playing along / I was singing that same old song / Turn my face up to you / Like some flower on the vine / But I'm no flower on the vine." The song is never rushed and is very simple, yet the lyrics relay deep-seated emotions throughout.

"You've been looking around / You've been looking, but you still haven't found / Your beautiful rose," Willis sings. "Well, it's never been bruised / And never had to lose / Always drawing you close / Like some flower on the vine / But I'm no flower on the vine / I'm no flower on the vine."

Willis is releasing "Flower on the Vine" as part of The Next Waltz, a web series from her husband, singer, songwriter and producer Bruce Robison. The series features artists offering insights and recording new music with top sessions talent at Robison's studio in Lockhart, Texas. More from Willis' The Next Waltz session is available at TheNextWaltz.com.

Willis' country career dates back more than 25 years. She began with the rockabilly band Radio Ranch, then became a solo artist and then began a career as a duo with Robison. Her music is available for download on iTunes, and fans can visit her official website for tour dates and more.
