Home improvement chain store, Lowe's, has decided to pull all commercials from running during the same time as the new reality show 'All American Muslims'. This decision came after a conservative group known as the Florida Family Association e-mailed advertisers to ask them to stop advertising on the show.

The group said the program, which follows the lives of Muslim families living in the Metro Detroit area, was "propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda's clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values."

Anyone else wondering why they picked Lowe's to be angry with or did they send out their hate mail to every advertiser that aired commercials that night ? And then you have to wonder if this family association has even seen the show. I have and it certainly did not make me want to denounce my Christian faith and plan the next attack on America, but it did educate me a little more on a faith I was completely ignorant of. I guess I wasn't the only one who failed to see the danger in this show.

On Monday, Congressman Keith Ellison, who is Muslim, released a statement condemning Lowe's Cos. for choosing "to uphold the beliefs of a fringe hate group and not the creed of The First Amendment," the part of the Constitution that protects freedom of religion.

Meanwhile, Lowe's, based in North Carolina, stood by its Sunday statement that it pulled the advertising after the show became a "lightning rod for people to voice complaints from a variety of perspectives — political, social and otherwise" and says "dozens" of other advertisers also pulled their advertising from the show.

"All-American Muslim" premiered last month and chronicles the lives of five families who live in and near Dearborn, Michigan, a Detroit suburb with a large Muslim and Arab-American population. Proponents of the show, which airs on Monday on TLC, say it portrays regular Muslim families living in the U.S.

TLC spokeswoman Laurie Goldberg said "All-American Muslim," which ends its first season on Jan. 8, has garnered a little over a million viewers per week. "We stand behind the show All American Muslim and we're happy the show has strong advertising support," she said.

So what do you think ? Do you think shows about Americans who practice a different faith are a threat to all ? Have you or will you watch the show?  I for one  never would have associated Lowe's home improvement store with the Muslim faith because their commercial ran during that show , but NOW that they've made such a big deal out of it i sure will. Oh , and I'll be sure to keep my Christian card on me to prove I'm worthy of shopping there next time I need some 2x4's.... Let's hear what you think, ya know before some association says we can't have differing  opinions anymore :)
