On Tuesday a massive 40-foot whale shark was reeled in and brought to harbor for hundreds of onlookers to see.

It is illegal to hunt for whale sharks since scientist believe the population of whale sharks is decreasing at a rapid rate. Habitat damage caused by pollution and overfishing has caused food to be more scarce causing the extinction of the sharks.

Reports say the giant was found nearly 10 days ago unconscious in the Arabian Sea. Fisherman used several cranes to pull the shark onto the harbor. The whale shark carcass was sold for 1.7 million rupees, that's about 19,000 American dollars. Whats sharks are the biggest fish known to man, growing up to 40 ft in length.
