While in Chicago for a June 6 gig on Kenny Chesney's The Big Revival tour, Miranda Lambert's band apparently decided to book a surprise show of their own  — and of course, the "Roots and Wings" singer couldn't miss out on the fun.

“We just got to Joe’s bar in Chicago! My band/crew have a band of their own,” Lambert wrote on Instagram. “Come see Permnent Damage at Joe’s at 8pm! #coversongs#roadfamily#beer#roadies.”

Also hinting that she and singing partner Gwen Sebastian might take the stage, the pair ended up performing two songs with the band for about 700 lucky fans at Joe's Bar, a much-loved club in the Windy City that regularly hosts country shows.

Permnent Damage went on to play a three-hour set full of rock, pop and country covers, but none were as exciting as No Doubt's "Spiderwebs" and the B-52s' "Love Shack."

Wearing an "I Love Joe's on Weed" tank top and cutoff jean shorts, Lambert looked to be right in her element on "Spiderwebs," just enjoying her performance without all the pressure of her usual high-profile concerts. Her regular show might come off a little more refined, but nothing can compare to the simple fun of cover songs in a cramped bar full of rowdy fans. The fun continued on "Love Shack," with even more people bouncing around onstage and fans singing along.

The following day, Lambert continued her collaborative ways, joining Chesney onstage at Soldier Field for "You and Tequila" and a cover of George Strait's "Carried Away."

Both Lambert and Chesney are nominees at the upcoming CMT Music Awards, airing live Wednesday (June 10) at 8PM ET.
