In October, 2009, 9 year-old Elizabeth Olten went missing in the small town of Jefferson City, Missouri. Olten had left her house to go play with a friend down the street about 5pm, her mother told her to be back at 6pm for dinner but Olten never returned.

Olten went to play with 15 year-old Alyssa Bustamante's younger sister that day, police officers searched the neighborhood along with hundreds of volunteers and found nothing. It wasn't until police interviewed Alyssa Bustamante when they became suspicious of her.

Police noticed a hole that had been dug behind Bustamante's house, she told the police that she liked to dig holes and the police thought nothing of it. When officers searched Bustamante's room, since that was where Olten was last headed they found a journal with evidence that then led officers to a different location behind Bustamante's home and the body of Olten hidden under a pile of leaves.

Inside the journal of now 18 year-old Bustamante police found out how Olten was murdered:

"I just f------ killed someone. I strangled them and slit their throat and stabbed them now they're dead. I don't know how to feel atm. It was ahmazing. As soon as you get over the "ohmygawd I can't do this" feeling, it's pretty enjoyable. I'm kinda nervous and shaky though right now. Kay, I gotta go to church now...lol."

Bustamante's journal was read in front of a court room on Monday, she confessed to stabbing, strangling and slitting the throat of 9 year-old Elizabeth Olten. Bustamante confessed to a police officer the day she was arrested that she just wanted to see what it would feel like to kill someone. Bustamante is facing charges of up to life in prison, the least of mount of time she can receive is 10 years.
