It seems like just yesterday BPI closed their doors and left 200 people unemployed.  Well it seems that another company is getting ready to close their doors.  Nationwide Insurance is closing it's Amarillo call center.

Another 325 Amarillians will be left jobless after Nationwide shuts down it's Amarillo call center.  The insurance company is trying to cut expenses and utilize that money to ‘enhance productivity and efficiency.'

Whatever the reason, come next July, 325 people will be unemployed.  Customers and agents will not be effected.  The only thing that will change will be handling your claims.  Instead of talking to someone here in Amarillo, you will now be talking to people in Lynchburg, Va.; San Antonio; Des Moines, Iowa; and Columbus, Ohio.

The closure is not immediate.  Employees will be let go and doors closed July 2013.  Until then, employees will be meeting with Nationwide representatives to discuss their futures with Nationwide or receiving help transitioning into another profession.  Some will even get severance packages.

Not a good time for Amarillo, first BPI and now Nationwide.  Hopefully the outcome will be positive for all the employees affected.
