If you weren't already in bed by the time President Obama made the historical announcement last night, I'm sure there was some sort of relief/celebration going on at your house. Well, let me tell ya it was nothing like hearing the news with a Navy Veteran sitting next to you lol. My fiance Lane served on the USS Enterprise and in Operation Iraqi Freedom and just recently eased back into civilian life. Like so many of today's Veterans, at 28 years old he's been a part of war and been around the world on a Navy ship to keep that war from coming to our home. Within minutes of the news he was on the phone with his Navy and Marine buddies from around the country. At one point there was even a celebratory shot of whiskey taken lol. Yes, hearing this news was amazing, but being able to see the pride in him and knowing that so many Veterans of every age around the country were feeling that exact way was the best part. So often these men and women go without the praise and thanks that they deserve. So, whether you're a Democrat or Republican just know that the real hero's aren't the ones in an expensive suite, but the ones in uniform. Thank a Veteran and know that they are the reason we get to live in the best country on Earth ! And if you have a Veteran that you're proud of tell us about them in the comment section !

p.s. The pic is of Lane and one of his best friends on the USS Enterprise somewhere around the world.
