The new Texas State Travel guide is out.   This is the guide you get at any of the travel centers in the state.  This is the free guide that tells you all of the sites and events you have to see when you are traveling in Texas. For the first time the Panhandle is being honored on the cover, with a gorgeous picture of the Lighthouse in Palo Duro Canyon.

The last time the Texas Panhandle was represented on the Texas Travel guide was when the Panhandle Plains Historical Museum was featured on the cover in 1953.  Palo Duro Canyon was features on the  Official Travel Map of Texas in 1993.

The cover features a picture of The Lighthouse in Palo Duro Canyon.  The photograph was take by photographer Kevin Stillman.  Kevin works for the Texas Department of Transportation and the Texas Highways Magazine.

The photo also has local Amarillo Couple Gary and Sherry Jennings, who own the Firestone Building and have recently renovated into loft apartments.

Not only was Palo Duro Canyon featured on the guide, but Caprock Canyons State Park is featured on the 2018 Official Travel Map of Texas.  This is huge for our area. Over 1 million copies are printed and distributed to people all over the country and all over the world.

So if you have time go visit our Texas Travel Center at I-40 and Airport Blvd and pick up a copy of the State Travel Guide as well as the map.
