A Pampa woman tried to burn down her own house, told authorities she tried to do it and was arrested.

Brenda Trevathan, 54, of Pampa was arrested and booked into the Gray County jail for attempting to burn her house down, she is being held for a second-degree felony arson charge.

Trevathan told investigators she started the fire in her dining room where it traveled up the walls and furniture. Fire fighters were able to control the blaze 20 minutes after it started causing around $5,000 in damages.

According to Amarillo.com, "Trevathan faces up to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine, if convicted. She was being held Wednesday afternoon in lieu of a $3,500 bond."
