Americana singer-songwriter Parker Millsap will make his debut on Austin City Limits on Saturday night (Jan. 28), but The Boot's readers can get a sneak peek at Millsap's performance. Press play above to watch Millsap perform "Quite Contrary," on the ACL stage.

"Quite Contrary" comes from Millsap's self-titled 2014 album, which went to No. 1 on the Billboard Americana chart following its release. Back then, Millsap told PopMatters that the tune was inspired by a fire that took place at a trailer home located near his own home when he was about six or seven.

"All the neighbors stood in the yard and watched the flames billowing up while police cars and fire trucks sped down Blue Ridge Drive. It wasn’t until much later that I learned that it was a meth-lab fire," Millsap recalls. "For “Quite Contrary,” I took that moment and just pretended the inhabitants of the house were Mother Goose characters."

10 Americana, Alt-Country, Bluegrass and Folk Artists to Watch in 2017

Austin City Limits viewers won't see Millsap's blistering "Quite Contrary" performance when his episode airs -- it's a web-only exclusive -- but they will be able to see him perform songs such as "Hands Up," "Truck Stop Gospel" and more. The artist released his third album, The Very Last Day, in March of 2016; readers can learn more about Millsap, purchase his music and see his upcoming tour dates at ParkerMillsap.com.

Millsap's ACL episode will air on PBS at 9PM ET on Jan. 28; Band of Horses are also featured. Immediately following the initial broadcast, the episode will be available for a limited time on PBS’ website; check the Austin City Limits website for local broadcast information.
