Rodney Atkins is coming to Amarillo and his song "Take A Back Road" took the award for Song of the Year at the 60th annual BMI Awards.

Luke Laird and Rhett Akins both are winners for the songwriter of the year in 2011 and 2012 at the BMI Awards. Both men teamed up with Rodney Atkins to make the hit singe "Take A Back Road," which won song of the year at the 2012 BMI Awards.

Atkins told the Tennessean.com: “It had everything,” Atkins said. “It became something that once we released it, instantly, emails started coming in by the thousands, with people saying that it made them feel differently. It lifted their spirits."
