Panhandle kids are pretty good at coming up with ways to entertain ourselves on a rainy day, but this takes it to a new level...

Last week, storms dumped several feet of water over the Texas Panhandle but it seemed like Lubbock got the brunt end of the rainfall.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 shared this video of Lubbock residents kayaking down one of the busiest streets in town (Quaker Avenue) like it was a normal day at the lake.

On another side of town, near 50th and West Loop 28,9 it wasn't all fun and water games. As you can see this pick up truck was swept away and submerged in flash flood waters.

Lubbock hasn't been the only Texas town to be hit by heavy rains. Most of the Lone Star State is on high alert this storm season. While a casual shower may be pleasant, it can turn dangerous quickly. Especially in areas like Amarillo or Lubbock, where there are no sophisticated drainage systems in place.

Keep you and your family safe this season by listening to any Townsquare Media station for severe weather updates.
