Fifteen years ago a campaign started to encourage people in Texas to put on their seat belt. That was the "Click It or Ticket" campaign. Each year hundreds almost thousands of people die in car accidents because they did not have their seat belt on.
An 18 year old girl lead the Amarillo Police on a stolen vehiclepolice chase yesterday that ended in a blown tire and wreck. The vehicle was warming up in the owner's driveway on the 2000 block of S Fairfield in Amarillo, when the female decided it was the perfect time for a joyride. Why can't a person just let their car warm up in their own driveway without worrying about somebody stealing it? What's happened to the world?
A routine traffic stop transformed into so much more today in Amarillo. Amarillo Police officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at the 1500 block of S Grand. Both a male and female suspect we arrested after APD officers located numerous items that appeared to have been stolen. How does something "appear" stolen? I wish I had an answer for that.
If you have information about this crime call the Amarillo Police Department at 378-3038, or Crime Stoppers at 374-4400. Earlier today a bank robbery took place at the FirstBank Southwest bank near 34th and Bell.
