In a conversation that seemed to be a pointed jab at friendly rival Capcom, a producer working on ‘Tekken Tag Tournament’ said any characters locked on the disc will be given away for free. Remember that Capcom infamously charged gamers for such content in ‘Street Fighter X Tekken.’

Like your little brother who took advantage of the situation when you did something bad by saying, “Mommy, I’m the good one, right?” series producer Katsuhiro Harada snipes:

“Tekken’s never really done that before and charged for it, however we did have an [unlock] system in Tekken one to five. The character locks were like that – we never took money for it but the concept itself was there. I think really the players’ opinions and the heated discussion is whether you charge for it or not.”

Tekken games are far from blameless in terms of gratuitous DLC, charging extra for online play in ‘Dark Resurrection.’ But maybe the brain trust is out to change the way it operates.
