Texans love a lot of things: Dr. Pepper, Whataburger and being from the best state in the country. But when it comes to online dating, it's all about the oil.

Online dating website Match.com looked at thousands of users' profiles to find that one word that appears most often by state and shared the info with Mashable, which then created an interactive map.

Texas' unique descriptive word that local users used most in online dating profiles was oil. That's right: oil. We're honestly surprised it wasn't barbecue.

It's unclear what exactly the methodology behind the study was besides that Match looked at "which words are used with relative frequency in certain states, as compared to relative infrequency in the rest of the country."

But the results aren't exactly shocking. There's an Oil City in Texas. Also, Texas is kind of well known for oil; our local oil companies employ thousands.

Of course, Oklahoma (AKA Texas' Hat) copied us again and also use oil the most in their online dating profiles. New Mexico's most used word is desert, while Louisiana's is hunt.
