Texas Tech Basketball vs TCU

Texas Tech took the lead with 16:42 left in the first half and never looked back to win their fifth Big 12 game over TCU, 84-65, after dropping the last three.

The win puts Texas Tech at 5-3 in Big 12 play, and one game out of 1st place in the conference.

Jarrett Culver and Matt Mooney both finished the night with 18 points, with Tariq Owens adding 17 and Davide Moretti dropped 11. The offensive explosion was the first 80+ point game from Texas Tech since December 15th, 2018 when they beat ACU.

Texas Tech scored at least 40 points in both halves, after mustering just 45 in an entire Big 12 contest last week. The Red Raiders shot 54 percent from the field and 42 percent from beyond the arc, while settling in at the line going 11-14 from the charity stripe.

Texas Tech also fixed their turnover problem taking care of the ball and playing efficiently on the offensive side of the ball getting 20 assists and only seven turnovers.

It was a dominating performance from a Texas Tech team that should have beaten TCU, and the rowdy atmosphere had as much to do with that as the players on the court did. The Horned Frogs were overwhelmed at times by the noise in the United Supermarkets Arena, shooting just 17-24 from the line after seeing the see of speedos behind the hoop.

It was a truly harrowing experience for anyone trying to shoot a free throw.

Chris Beard doesn't take the crowd for granted, or the fact that this was the first Big Monday game in Lubbock, Texas since 2006.

Texas Tech will get back on the court against Kansas, in Lawrence, on February 2nd, 2019.
