The West Texas A&M University Student Government tried a new approach on how to benefit area charities.

They call it "Fill the Field," they filled the grand plaza inside the Buffalo Sports Park. They were asking for things such as bottled water, canned goods, personnel hygiene items, gently used clothing and other non-perishables.

The Student Government invited area church's, business's, schools, groups and organizations to fill up divided sections with donations.

“We are really excited about this project,” Brandy Roberts, student body president, said. “Times are hard, and Student Government wanted to do something to help area communities.
