Trace Adkins is one of country music's most colorful performers, but he set his roughneck image aside in 2008 for a guest role on the long-running soap opera, The Young and the Restless, which aired on April 9, 2008.

Adkins played himself in the segment, turning up to serenade two of the show's stars with his then-current hit single, "You're Gonna Miss This," which hit No. 1 just days later, on April 12, and held the top spot for two weeks. Written by Ashley Gorley and Lee Thomas Miller, the song depicts various moments from the female protagonist's life, assuring, "You're gonna miss this / You're gonna want this back / You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast / These are some good times / So take a good look around / You may not know it now / But you're gonna miss this."

Adkins is no stranger to the small screen. He's also appeared as himself on Celebrity Apprentice, Ace of Cakes, My Name Is Earl and more, as well as various guest and voiceover roles in character. He's also a veteran of films; he made his screen debut in a background role in the 1987 Rob Lowe/Winona Ryder film Square Dance, and has since appeared in a number of big-screen productions, including The Lincoln Lawyer, The Virginian and Moms' Night Out.
