Train Collides with Car Parked on Tracks, One Person Injured

A train collided with a car parked on the tracks in Amarillo on South East 46h Avenue near S. Tyler according to the Amarillo Police Department.

According to investigators the car was stopped on the tracks, the train was headed southbound when it struck the car at 15 MPH. The car was moved fifty feet before coming to a halt.

The driver of the vehicle was 17 year old Desmond L. Ford of Amarillo, he was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. Investigators at this time still have not determined why the vehicle was stopped on the tracks.
