TV Show ‘Hoarders’ Films An Episode In The Amarillo/Canyon Area

Emmy nominated TV show Hoarders was in town last week to film an episode for the upcoming season. If you’ve ever seen the show you know that this show gets down to the nitty gritty of people and their desire to hold on to everything ! Take years and years of shopping, collecting and piling up of stuff and add in some emotional trauma and you have one of the most watched reality show on the air.

HOARDERS™ not only captures the drama as experts work to put each hoarder on the road to recovery but also highlights the individual’s inner challenges and triumphs. Although cleaning marks the first step of tackling this disorder, success is not definite. For some individuals, throwing away the tiniest object is so traumatizing that they will not be able to allow the cleaning process to go on, no matter how it may impact their future. For others, professional help and an organizer’s instruction give them the strength to let go. At the end of each episode we’ll find out who has been able to keep their hoarding behavior under control and who has fallen into the deep end of this painful disease.

This show leaves me feeling like I need to clean my house even if it’s spotless. But we’re not just talking a few dishes in the sink and toys scattered on the bedroom floor. Nope, this is a mess taken to the extreme.  And the 4th season returns with even more unbelievable hoarders.

  • A doll enthusiast whose hobby has gotten out of control – she has tens of thousands of dolls that fill nearly every room in her house
  • A man who has a collection of hundreds of mannequins modeled after him, as well as buckets of his actual hair
  • A memorabilia collector whose massive stash of games, action figures, books and novelties has made it impossible to move through his home
  • An automobile lover who is facing $20 million in fines for littering his property with hundreds of junked cars

And somewhere in the midst of all of that, an episode filmed right here in Canyon ! The Amarillo cleaning pros at Amarillo Bio Klenz were on hand to work their magic. No details have really been given yet to protect the family involved, but soon you can see it all unfold on A&E. That makes me wonder about my own neighbors…..
