Distracted driving is a growing epidemic and it costs the lives of may each year.  Starting today, and this is no joke, the Texas Department of Transportation kicks off the Talk, Text, Crash campaign.  They will be focusing this month on educating drivers about the safety of driving and the dangers of texting while driving.

In 2015, in Texas, over 103, 576 crashes happened due to distracted driving.  Distracted driving caused the death of 463 people, and over 3000 people were seriously injured.

The Texas Department of Transportation wants you to know, that one text or phone call isn't worth injury or even death.  Wait til you are at your destination to check your phone.

Here are the activities that are discouraged while driving.

  • Posting to social media
  • Checking email
  • Eating
  • Grooming
  • Reading
  • Programming a navigation system
  • Watching a video
  • Adjusting a radio, CD player or other audio devices

The purpose of Text, Talk, Crash is to just make sure you are safe behind the wheel of your vehicle and don't let things distract you from driving safely.
