It was an unforeseen tragedy yesterday in the small town of West, Texas just north of Waco. A fertilizer plant caught fire when firefighters were called in to stop the blaze. Just minutes later there was a massive explosion at the plant that could be felt 50 miles away.

So far the death toll is estimated to be 5-15 people with over 150 people injured from the blast. Authorities are saying among the dead could be the firefighters who first responded to the blaze. Because West is such a small town they have no full time firefighters, they are all volunteer firefighters.

Officials are estimating 50-100 homes are at a total loss, and because of this a lot of families have nothing right now, just the clothes they have on their backs and supplies that have been given to them from Red Cross, etc.
