As we reach the halfway point of summer, who couldn't use a dip in the pool or splash down a water slide? But for those of us who have been waiting for the Canyon Aqua Park (CAP) to open, we may have to wait even longer.

In a recent update, the CAP announced that construction issues continue to delay the official opening date of the new aqua facility on 19th Street in Canyon. The original plan was to have it open by June 1st, however we are long past that deadline. As of a July 6th Facebook post from the facility, there is still no set date for opening.

Canyon officials say that there are still several items that need to be completed before the facility can be inspected for opening. Among them are the admissions building, bathrooms, and concessions.

Once the park opens, which officials told ABC7 could be sometime this month, it will remain open daily until the Labor Day holiday. Then it will be open weekends only through the month of September. Admission will be $8.00 per person. Season passes are no longer on sale for 2017.

The new Canyon Aqua Park will include two slides, a lazy river, competition pool, multiple spray features, zero entry beach, a large play structure, diving boards, two large shade pavilions, and multiple umbrella shade structures. The park will hold roughly 650 people at a time.
