Have you ever made the trip down to Palo Duro Canyon to hike, picnic, bike ride, etc?  During the summer it is hot and the sun is shining bright on  your skin.  Did you remember the sunscreen?

Sometimes that's the one thing we forget, the most important thing to have when we go outside, sunscreen.  However, coming up this summer, sunscreen is something you won't have to worry about taking with you when you head down to Palo Duro Canyon.

Did you know that melanoma is predicted to be one of the Top 5 new cancers cases in Potter and Randall County?  That's 55 new cases expected in our area this year.  It's a scary thought.

Harrington Cancer Center and 24-Hours in the Canyon are teaming up with Palo Duro Canyon to offer something unique that isn't available in any other Texas State Park.  They will be offering free sunscreen in PDC.

Starting at the end of April, sunscreen dispensers will be set up through our Palo Duro Canyon State Park.

...we are happy to announce that, through a partnership with Palo Duro Canyon State Park, we will be placing 10 sunscreen dispensers inside the State Park by April 30th. We are also committing to provide enough sunscreen for every visitor for the upcoming spring and summer months in an effort to prevent skin cancer.” Says Ryan Parnell, Director of Operations and Special Programs.

It's important to protect your skin from the sun and this is just another awesome way to keep yourself protected from the sun!

Palo Duro Canyon Park Interpreter, Jeff Davis says “Palo Duro Canyon State Park is proud to partner with the Harrington Cancer & Health Foundation and 24 Hours in the Canyon to provide these sunscreen dispensers to our visitors. By ensuring that sunscreen is available for free to everyone in the park, together we are able to make a trip to Palo Duro Canyon a lot safer and more enjoyable for visitors while reducing the risk of future skin cancer. It’s a win-win-win for the park, our amazing partner groups, and our visitors... we know our visitors to the state park will benefit greatly.”
