Following his son Jerry's death in early July, Craig Morgan and his family received an outpouring of love and support from both his fans and those within the country music industry. In a recent Facebook Live video, the singer offers his thanks for the well wishes.

"It's been a while since I talked to anybody ... and I wanted to personally get on here and tell all of you thank you so much for your kind words and your support," Morgan says. "It's been amazing."

In the first few minutes of his Facebook Live video, Morgan thanks his fans ("We've gotten letters and emails and Facebook posts and all kinds of stuff."), country radio ("I've been getting emails and phone calls.") and his friends in the music business ("You're all amazing; I love you all."). He also thanks his record label, Black River Entertainment, for "the love and support, and kind and caring attitude that you guys have shown me and my family, and stepping in in a time of need," as well as his management and his road crew; of his crew, Morgan says, "These guys are my family out here, and they're also my family at home."

"Sorry I haven't called a bunch of you back," Morgan notes. "I haven't felt much like talking, if you want the truth. I'm not sure I still feel much like talking, but I do want to make sure that you all know how much I appreciate your kind words and concern ... We love you all, and we thank you so much for all your support."

Search parties began looking for Jerry Greer at about 4PM on July 10, after the teenager and a friend had an accident while water tubing. About 20-30 boats were involved in the search before the 19-year-old’s body was recovered late on July 11.

Greer had recently graduated from Dickson County High School and planned to play football for Marshall University this fall. When his body was recovered, Greer was still wearing his life jacket; in the days after his death, officials investigating admitted that they were unsure why the teenager’s life jacket did not save his life. An autopsy, released in mid-October, confirmed that drowning was to blame for Greer’s death, while a toxicology report showed that Greer tested positive for marijuana at the time of his death, and that he had a low level of alcohol in his system.

Morgan canceled the remainder of his July tour dates to be with his family following his son’s death. He is currently on the road for his American Stories Tour.

“We are blessed by the outpouring of prayers and condolences from across the world,” Morgan wrote on Facebook following Greer’s death. “Jerry may be gone from this earth, and we will miss him every day, but his spirit will live on in our hearts. We will find peace knowing that God has a bigger plan, and that one day, we’ll be reunited with him again in Heaven.”
