Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I had several friends tell me a very similar story. They spent most of the holiday sick. While one or two them I'll personally chalk up to shoddy cooking, the others had the flu, stomach bug, and some even tested positive for Covid-19 (yeah...it's still a thing).

This holiday season, take care of yourself. Here's some quick tips.

Sleep Is Great For Helping Boost The Immune System.

The funny thing about sleep is that it's one of the simplest tips and yet, somehow, it seems like it's the hardest thing to accomplish. Getting in a good night's rest can be tough, and that's without holidays, time changes, and everything else life throws at us every winter.

The CDC highly recommends sleep for helping boost the immune system. Get some rest, Amarillo.

Get Physical. Get Active. Get Moving.

This time of year makes it tough for me to get off the couch and do much of anything. All I want is to find a cozy spot to settle in, and hibernate. Throw in a nice cocktail, and a decent meal, and I may never leave.

As fun as it sounds, it's not the best thing in the world 24/7.

Physical activity plays a key part in keeping your immune system fighting the good fight. It also helps you sleep better, can help reduce anxiety...it's good to get some in once in a while.

Get off your keister, Amarillo. It's for your health.

Eat. And Eat Well.

Eating is important. Most of us understand this, and do our best. One of the best ways to fight off getting sick is to make sure you eat well. It's another basic thing that, for one reason or another, seems impossible to do sometimes.

Two words: Fruits. Veggies.

The CDC also encourages lean protein, and cutting back on salt and sugar.

Take Care Of Yourself Amarillo.

This holiday season, do your best to take care of yourself. While some things can't be helped, you can take action to try and beat getting sick this holiday season.

Nothing is worse than missing a big event because you got sick.
