New Study Reveals the Top Texas City for Foodies
A recent study to determine the best U.S. cities for foodies revealed what every Texas food lover already knew. Or did it?
I remember the first time someone called me a foodie. I was quick to correct them, saying that I’ve spent way too much time ordering from value menus at fast food chains to ever consider myself a foodie.
However, that was before I knew the difference between a foodie and a food snob.

A foodie is someone who has a passion for food and loves to try new things, but isn’t above raving about the greatness of gas station food, for instance. A food snob is, well, just kind of a douchebag who looks down on others for their culinary choices. So yeah, I’m definitely a foodie.
Here’s the thing – we Texans are full of state pride. Yes, we love our state, but we also love the region in which we reside. That’s how rivalries between cities like Dallas and Fort Worth are born.
Being a foodie from North Texas, I’m kind of partial to Fort Worth. I spend more time there than any other major Texas city, and I almost always try a new restaurant when I’m in town and am rarely disappointed.
But I will say that it’s hard to argue against Austin when it comes to the best cities for foodies. There are a ton of acclaimed eateries in our state capital. So, I wasn’t in the least bit surprised when I saw WalletHub named Austin the best Texas city for foodies in a new study.
