It seems like I have been dashing in Amarillo for quite some time. I enjoy doing it for the most part. Yes, it's extra money and I like that. It is also an opportunity to drive around and discover things about our city.

I get to stop into the newer restaurants. I get to chat with the employees. I get to meet some really nice people that I end up delivering to. I get to check out the different Amarillo neighborhoods and homes.

The Joy of Discovering Amarillo While Dashing

For the most part it really is fun. Then there are the moments that I really hate. People that lie directly to me. I have said this before, if you don't tip, that is on you, a driver may decide to deliver the food to you or they won't. You may have to wait a little extra.

There are times that an order is accepted and then you notice there is no tip. If you deliver by time the only way you know that going in is if the customer decides to leave you a message saying that they will tip you when the food is delivered.

When Good Deliveries Go Bad

For the most part if the order has the directions to leave it at the door you know they are not tipping. If you have to hand it to them you still have a chance. Recently I had a customer say they would tip when I deliver.

When I got there he met me at the door and went to his car and grabbed ten dollars to give me. Those are the customers that we love. Then there are the ones that say they will tip and they know they have no intentions of doing that.

The Tip Lie Drivers Will Never Forget

Another recent order came with a message just like that. I was told she would let me know where the cash tip would be when I am assigned the order. I picked up the food with no message telling me anything.

I started driving to her. I got to her house. Still no message. I delivered the food. I looked around the porch just in case there is an envelope waiting for me, there was not. Then I thought maybe that message was for a past delivery that they didn't update. Maybe they really did tip me through the app. They did not.

Why Honesty Matters More Than You Think

Those are the deliveries that are frustrating. If you are not going to tip at least own it. Don't lie. There is nothing we hate more than liars and we remember you. I promise you we do.
