Amarillo’s Buddy Walk Returns to Sam Houston Park This Weekend
I love that our great city of Amarillo gets involved. We have a lot of causes that we support. We can support them by giving money. We can support by showing up to a fun event. We may have a t-shirt in our closet that we wear every once in a while to remind everyone about the organization throughout the year.

If there is something that is near to your heart, there are ways you can get involved. One that we had been a part of for several years is the Buddy Walk. My daughter's soccer team would always head to the walk either before or right after a game. It looked cool, though, a whole team walking together in their jerseys.
Why the Buddy Walk Matters to Amarillo Families
We walked because one of our players had a brother with Down syndrome. The one thing about the Buddy Walk is that we walk for a small amount of time, but the Panhandle Down Syndrome Guild not only has the walk, but also a lot of other great fun. Our team always enjoyed hanging around.
What to Expect at This Year’s Buddy Walk
It's not just walking for a short time and things are done. This is a four-hour block of fun at Sam Houston Park. There will be games that the family can play. Of course, what is an event without food? They have that too.
If you like prizes, there will be plenty. This is a community event to raise awareness for Down syndrome. October is National Down Syndrome Awareness Month, and the Buddy Walk is the best way to kick it off in Amarillo.
