
Mark Your Calendars For 2027: The Countdown To Amarillo’s Hottest Menu Starts Now
Sometimes you see news floating around the social media pages of Amarillo, and you think to yourself, "Wait, this is not news." You wonder if your mind is failing you, and it could be, but you have to make sure.
I could have sworn the news about Dave's Hot Chicken coming to Amarillo was already out there, and it turns out my memory wasn't failing me. Oh, yes, we did tell you about them coming at some point back in 2023. They were expanding to the Texas Panhandle, and the word was that Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa were getting locations.

As it started floating around again, there is at least some good news for us. The locations in Lubbock, Midland, and Odessa have already opened up. They are already enjoying their great hot chicken. Amarillo has been at a slower pace. Amarillo is just doing what Amarillo does, waiting.
The Soncy Road Corridor: Where Dave’s Is Setting Up Shop
That pace is about to get a fire lit underneath us, and we now have a location. But you can't start pouring concrete without a confirmed address, and we finally have that answer. That has been answered with the news that construction will begin in August at 5960 S Soncy Rd.
The brand-new restaurant will sit right in the busy Soncy Road corridor near Townsquare, with a targeted grand opening set for May 2027. Dave's Hot Chicken is coming to Amarillo.
Dave's Hot Chicken is officially heading to Amarillo with a new ground-up construction project valued at approximately $900,000.
According to newly registered state filings, the restaurant will be built at 5960 S Soncy Rd and will span roughly 2,820 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in August 2026, with completion currently targeted for May 2027.
The project adds another major national restaurant brand to the rapidly growing Soncy Road corridor, which has continued to see significant retail and commercial expansion in recent years.
