I had heard some rumbling on social media recently about an Amarillo restaurant limiting the amount of time you can spend inside their place. Apparently some McDonald's have signs posted letting everyone know.

The post I saw on social media was talking about one McDonald's in particular.

McDonald's of tascosa rd setting time limit on how long u can be there to eat. - Carl

There was a photo posted but when I went to the one that I assumed was being talked about on Amarillo Blvd near Tascosa Rd I didn't see a sign posted. I know they couldn't be talking about the location near Tascosa High School because that lobby isn't even open right now during a remodel.

Ok, back to the drawing board. The post also said that there were other locations doing the same thing. One location mentioned was the Teckla Blvd location. So I stopped by. I mean I wanted to get another of those cute Crocs Happy Meals. My granddaughter loves them.

So as I went in to grab the order that I placed through the app, I saw the sign.

From what I saw on the same social media post the location on Grand also is limiting the time as well. I do get them not wanting customers to spend all day at one of the tables. I have never gone in and seen where all of the tables are being used and they are hurting for seating.

Most people use the drive-thru or grab food and go after stopping to use the restroom. Has people hanging out all day been a real problem for certain McDonalds?

At first, I thought maybe they were limiting the high school students. They really don't have a long time to spend much time inside eating. That can't be it.

Are they limiting the older generation that likes to sit inside and drink coffee? I would hope not. When I asked they didn't really answer why the sign was up. Maybe they are trying to limit the homeless population that may find their way inside with a few dollars for a burger and fries.

I am not really sure. I just think 30 minutes is rushing it. Especially if you are with a family that is traveling and taking a few minutes to get outside of the car and eat a quick meal, thirty minutes may seem like a rush for them. Especially if they have kids.

So far only three Amarillo McDonald's have been talked about limiting the time. Is this going to become the norm? Why is thirty minutes the time limit? Why not give everyone at least an hour? That seems a bit more reasonable.
