When we talk about how fast things can change in Amarillo, we are not kidding. The restaurant scene can change so fast. It can be both good and bad. We get new places opening. Unfortunately, with that, we also get places that close.
The restaurant scene demands constant attention. Luckily, a lot more good than bad has been happening here lately. We have places like Long John Silver's that Amarillo is really getting excited about. We have had other places open as well. It's just the way it has been going.

A Beloved Hometown Expansion
A little over a year ago, we got the news that Prissy's Barbecue was getting a storefront. That is always good news. They expanded to Tulia—owner Anthony Sanders’s hometown.
Last February, he let me know about the new location:
So the new restaurant will be in Tulia. That’s my hometown and they’ve always been super supportive when we come.
Tulia Chapter Comes to an End
Things have been going great for Anthony at his location of Prissy's Barbecue in Tulia. The thing is, when you see an opportunity, you have to grasp is. That is exactly what Anthony is doing, according to a recent social media post:
Next Stop: Amarillo
It’s with a very grateful and heavy heart that I write this. But when opportunity knocks I tend to kick the door down! God has provided an opportunity to move our operation to Amarillo!
Last Call in Tulia—August 2
Unfortunately, at the moment, we don’t have the resources to continue operations in both locations. Our last day in Tulia will be August 2nd! I love this community with every fraction of my body and I was blessed to be so welcomed here! You have my word that I will work relentlessly to re open! But for now, please come dine with us over these next 2 weeks! And……AMARILLO WE’RE COMING!!!!
When asked, Anthony said the new location was going to be on East Amarillo Boulevard. He thinks it used to be Don Miguel's. We can't wait for it to open in Amarillo. That is all the good news we need right now. We will anxiously be waiting for the news of the opening.
What’s Next for Prissy’s
As always, remember to save room for their banana pudding. You can thank me later.
