Remember back when Amarillo had two malls? We could choose between heading to Western Plaza or Westgate Mall. They both offered stores that we could shop at for days.

Over the years Amarillo lost one mall and in it's place a shopping center. Now when we talk about the mall we only have one that comes to mind. They still have a lot of places to shop. They still have a food court.

Over the years we have seen a lot of stores come and go from Westgate Mall. You probably have fond memories of being dropped off with a group of friends and some cash in hand.

You had the job of budgeting that money. You needed food out of that and you also hoped to come home with a great purchase. Would it be music? Would you grab a poster for your wall? Or how about that cool T-shirt you have been eyeing?

Over the years the mall has stood but the stores have changed. We had full restaurants like San Antonio or Cattle Call. We had a place to play golf in the dark at Lights Off Golf. We even had a movie theater to enjoy while shopping.

Then there were the anchor stores that we knew would always be there until they weren't. The Sears is now gone and so is the Mervyn's. There have definitely been some changes over the years.

What Store Do You Miss the Most at Westgate Mall?

My answer would be The Disney Store. I remember shopping at that store at other malls in other cities until we finally got our in the nineties. Now it is hard to find one anywhere. We do run to the one in Grapevine Mills Mall every chance we can. That is the store I miss the most. How about you?
