If you are like most people in Amarillo, you are thinking about warmer weather and wishing it were here. It will be back again; we just have to get through the colder months first. This is winter after all.

With warmer weather, we think about baseball season being back. It's hard to believe, but the Amarillo Sod Poodles will be back in town in April. We will even have extra fun baseball with the Banana Ball League being in town at the end of April.

So, as they are getting ready for baseball to be back in Amarillo, there are some important things they have to get squared away. One of those things is deciding who is going to sing the National Anthem.

They host auditions at Hodgetown to determine just that. Those auditions determine who will belt out the anthem on opening night and other big nights at the park. The best part is it also helps to get you heard and seen.

If you don't win the coveted Opening Day spot, there are still opportunities for you to sing before another game during the 2026 season. So, auditions are very important to make sure you sign up and show off:

How to Apply for the 2026 National Anthem Spot

Make sure you sign up at the LINK and prepare to sing your heart out. I have been on the other end of the National Anthem auditions several times. I know that we have some great singers in Amarillo. I’ve had the difficult task of rating our local talent in the past.

It's tough, but it's also great to hear how many great vocalists we have. So much great talent to show up and sing their hearts out at Hodgetown.
