Could Toys R Us Be Coming Back to Amarillo? Locals Hope So
There was one closing in Amarillo over seven years ago that still stings. It hurts for the kiddos to know they will not grace the aisles of this store. It hurts us as adults because this store was our childhood. We all wanted to be a Toys R Us kid.
Amarillo Still Feels the Toys R Us Void
Since they closed the toy front has been a bit quiet. We have very few designated toy stores to run to for all of the events we need presents for.

Toys R Us Is Slowly Making a Comeback
After the closing all of those years ago, the nostalgia is coming back. There have been certain locations that have reopened the Toys R Us doors. The first place we heard was in Grapevine, Texas. You can find a smaller version of Toys R Us in the Grapevine Mills Mall.
Then, word came out recently that a Toys R Us location has opened in Lubbock. Yes, Geoffrey, we hope will make a comeback too. You can go shopping at South Plains Mall and also find a much smaller but still as welcomed Toys R Us while you are shopping.
Lubbock’s New Store Sparks Local Hope
So that is two Toys R Us locations not that far away. Could that mean maybe Amarillo could get on that list? We do have a mall that could really use them. That would make a lot of us happy to head back to Westgate Mall if they brought part of our childhood back..
Could Westgate Mall Be the Perfect Spot?
I know the size of it will be like the KB Toy Store we once had. We would love that. We would love to all be a Toys R Us kid again. If Lubbock can get one then Amarillo needs to be a possibility too.
Amarillo Is Ready for Geoffrey’s Return
We will anxiously await that news. Who do we need to speak to so that we can make that a possibility? Westgate Mall is waiting and so is Amarillo.
